Step 2: Develop a Comprehensive Education Plan

Make an appointment with your counselor to develop a Comprehensive Education Plan.

Comprehensive Education Plans should map out your remaining coursework at community college showing your preparedness and ability to transfer to one of the three 4-year partner institutions.  The Ed plan should show all of your planned coursework up until transfer.  Specifically, it will be helpful to see if you are beginning to take the pre-medical school courses needed to successfully complete the MCAT in an order that works with your designated major.  This is why it is important to meet with your counselor or advisor regularly to ensure your Ed plan is up to date.

Step 3: Fill out the AvenueM Community College Application

The AvenueM Program represents the Greater Northern California Regional Hub for Healthcare Opportunity (RHHO) which is part of the state-wide California Medicine Scholars Programs (CMSP) network of RHHOs, administered by the California Medicine Coalition through the Foundation for California Community Colleges.

  • First-Generation
  • Veteran
  • Ties to the Northern California Region (e.g., attended high school in the region, place of birth, and/or parents’ residence, and/or applicant’s residence)

These mission-focused categories are considered as part of the selection process.

Program eligibility requirements:

  • Overall GPA of 3.0
  • Completion of 12 units of transferable coursework at a California Community College (you will need to submit unofficial transcripts with your application)
  • Be enrolled at one of our partner California Community Colleges.
