CMSP AvenueM is a community college to medical school pathway program that aims to reduce barriers to entry to medical and other healthcare careers. UC Davis School of Medicine will partner with three 4-year institutions – UC Davis, California State University (CSU), Sacramento, and Cal Poly Humboldt – and a network of community colleges feeding into them, to establish this robust educational ecosystem. The CMSP AvenueM program provides support and mentorship to students from economically and educationally disadvantaged backgrounds and geographically underserved communities.

To better serve these students, we welcome faculty and industry professionals who are in the Medical and Health-related fields to sign up to become a mentor.  Based on your interests and availability, program staff will pair mentors up with a CMSP AvenueM student. 

Mentor Expectations: 

• Mentoring assignments are for 1 year (January - December)
• Mentors should plan to meet with mentees via Zoom or video conferencing  for your first session
  • Subsequent sessions can be held via phone, or video conference, or one-on-one as able.
• Mentors should plan to spend about 10-20 clock hours working with their mentee(s) over the course of the academic year
• We recommend touching base at least once a month throughout the academic year to engage your student mentee.
