AvenueM is a community college to medical school pathway program that aims to reduce barriers to entry to medical and other healthcare careers. UC Davis School of Medicine will partner with three 4-year institutions – UC Davis, California State University (CSU), Sacramento, and Cal Poly Humboldt – and a network of community colleges feeding into them, to establish this robust educational ecosystem. Avenue M aims to provide support and mentorship to students from communities that have traditionally been underrepresented in medicine (URiM) to become physicians, including but not exclusive to: Black, American Indian & Alaska Native, Native Hawaiian, Hispanic or Latino, Filipino, Hmong, Cambodian, Lao, Mien, and Vietnamese.
AvenueM leverages existing programs and fills gaps in the transfer student pathway through a series of interventions and wraparound services. The program eliminates the barriers that prevent the full participation of students who are historically excluded and URiM.
